Advanced Practice in Critical Patient Care and Emergencies.

This module provides advanced skills in critical patient care and emergencies. It includes participation in various courses, accredited by national and international entities (SCCM, AHA, ERC, SEM). Students will build their own curriculum by choosing from the offerings (critical care, emergencies, life support, ultrasound, special techniques).

Module Access Requirements

  • Module Access: the student must be currently enrolled in or have completed modules 1 and 2.

Methodology and Teaching Resources
  • Theoretical Materials (if the course has them): autonomous study of pre-course materials. The student will have access to a book, digital material, or virtual campus one month before the course, which they will need to study independently to acquire the theoretical foundations. In the AHA and SCCM courses, there is also a virtual theoretical component.


  • Practical Phase: some courses will include a face-to-face phase of 1 to 5 days, depending on the requirements.

PEDIATRIC EDUCATION FOR PREHOSPITAL PROFESSIONALS – [AAP] – Barcelona/Madrid

*Theoretical part taught in English, practical part in Spanish.

Follow-up, assistance, and passing criteria

  • Attendance: at least 80% attendance to the face-to-face or telepresence part of the reserved courses. If the theoretical part is not passed, the practical part cannot be attended.
  • Evaluation: passing the corresponding exams.
  • The student is considered competent in module 5 when they pass two-thirds of the chosen courses (if there is unjustified non-attendance, the course is considered not passed).
